AIDI

Italian Association of Industrial Plant Engineering Professors

AIDI is composed of Professors and Researchers belonging to the Scientific-Disciplinary Sector IIND-05/A – Industrial Mechanical Plants.

The Association aims to contribute to the advancement, development, and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge in the fields of planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, conversion, and decommissioning of industrial plants; production systems for goods and services; logistics and service systems, with the ultimate goal of promoting socio-economic well-being and sustainable development.

Main Areas of Activity

Within this framework, the Association’s activities focus on the following main areas:

  • Analysis and design of industrial plants, including feasibility studies, site selection, environmental impact assessment, economic evaluation, and risk assessment (risk management), as well as plant project management (project management);
  • Analysis and design of industrial processes, production technologies, energy systems, and general plant services, with particular attention to innovation, automation, sustainability, and energy optimization, including techno-economic optimization methods and the analysis and evaluation of reliability and availability;
  • Ergonomic and safety design of production systems;
  • Management of production systems for goods and services, including production planning, management and control, design and management of production information systems, quality management, safety, energy and environmental management, and compliance with legislation and standards (compliance management);
  • Design, management, and maintenance of product and plant life cycles, also within facility management and global service frameworks;
  • Design and integrated management of logistics systems and production–distribution supply chains for goods and services (supply chain management), including storage, internal and external transportation of materials, traceability, procurement, distribution and after-sales networks, and reverse logistics;
  • Automation of production systems, including the economic feasibility analysis of integrated and flexible systems and industrial instrumentation for automatic process control.
